PROVO, Utah — A community benefit motorcycle ride will take place on Saturday, September 12, 2026, to support Lydia Long following the tragic loss of her family this summer. Presented by Intermountain Health and Summit Harley-Davidson, the 45-mile tribute route connects community members and first responders while promoting safety and wellness education.
In July 2026, Provo Fire Captain Spencer Long, his wife Katrina, and their three young sons—Reid, Thayne, and Gage—tragically lost their lives during a flash flood in southern Utah. Lydia is the family’s sole survivor. Captain Long was a respected firefighter and paramedic, and Katrina while Katrina was a beloved local business owner and co-founder of Summit Medical Spa. Together, they were devoted parents who deeply impacted everyone around them.
"Captain Spencer Long dedicated his life to protecting and serving others," said Jill Seymour, Event Coordinator for Summit Harley-Davidson. "This ride is an opportunity for riders, first responders, and community members across the region to come together, honor the memory of the Long family, and show Lydia that she is wrapped in our enduring support."
To surround Lydia with enduring care and honor her family’s legacy of service, regional partners and riding groups are joining forces for this memorial event.
"Partnering on this ride allows us to surround Lydia with meaningful support," said Karie Haws, Outreach and Injury Prevention Trauma Coordinator at Intermountain Health. "This ride will also bring safety and wellness education directly to the heroes who care for us every day."
