2026 Beneficiary: The Long Family

This year, the Ride for First Responders is dedicated to honoring the memory of Provo Fire Department Captain Spencer Long, his wife Katrina, and their three sons—Reid, Thayne, and Gage—and supporting their surviving daughter, Lydia.

The Tragedy

In July 2026, our community suffered an unimaginable loss. While enjoying a family excursion near Bicknell, Utah, the Long family was caught in a sudden, catastrophic flash flood that swept through the red rock canyon. Captain Spencer Long—a dedicated public servant who spent his career protecting others—his beloved wife Katrina, and their three sons tragically lost their lives.

Out of a family of six, their daughter Lydia is the sole survivor. In an instant, she faced the sudden loss of her entire immediate family.

Our Mission to Support Lydia

First responders put their lives on the line every single day for our safety, and when tragedy strikes home, it is our duty as a community to wrap our arms around those left behind.

All proceeds raised from this year’s event presented by Intermountain Health and Summit Harley-Davidson will go directly to support Lydia as she navigates the road ahead without her family.

By riding together, we honor Captain Long’s legacy of selfless service, remember a beautiful family gone far too soon, and ensure Lydia knows she is backed by a community that will never let her stand alone.
